This is your call to a new wave of sexual liberation, one in which sex exclusively for pleasure is no longer compromised by the addition of unnecessary hormones. One in which a woman shares the responsibility of pregnancy prevention with her partner, and plays an active role in her own healthcare practices through the act of body literacy. This practice is an act of love for yourself. It is an act of care for your body. It is a radical step forward for women of all walks of life.

Fertility Awareness

You may have heard of Fertility Awareness (FA) in the context of Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs) of birth control. FABMs are hormone-free birth control techniques that use your body's own fertility signs to determine when you are able to conceive. The fertility signs we generally monitor are basal body temperature (BBT), cervical fluid, and cervical position, although different methods may also track biomarkers found in urine samples.

What is fertility awareness (FA)?

This process can include FA apps like Natural Cycles, Kindara, and Flo Period Tracker, and also old school paper charting methods. That information can be used on a daily basis to help you decide whether or not to have unprotected sex. However, FA and FAM (Fertility Awareness Method) actually refer to the process of observing one's fertility biomarkers for a purpose - not just the purpose of birth control. There are other reasons to keep track of your fertility. Regarded as a "Fifth Vital Sign" (check out Lisa Hendrickson-Jack), one's fertility can be observed daily and data can be collected for use in conjunction with a set of rules as a birth control

method, a means of natural conception, and a way to monitor overall and reproductive health. In my personal experience with charting my fertility biomarkers for the last 9 years, I have successfully avoided unintended pregnancies, helped myself conceive, and also helped identify a PCOS diagnosis after the birth of my daughter. Charting has served me dutifully, and it can also serve you. I'm looking forward to hearing your story.

I am currently teaching puberty and menstrual cycle classes for teens and adults. These classes are geared towards girls, women, and all people with female reproductive organs. Please feel free to contact me if you have a small group and are interested in hosting a class, or if you are looking for a class happening near you.

Classes last 2-3 hours long, depending on size of the class, and are priced at $300 (plus a travel fee if necessary). The more people you can gather, the more affordable the head price becomes. To maintain appropriate space and comfort, classes must top off at 15 participants. Materials are included.
